Content To Flesh Out “Flesh”

I was asked by DeWayne Lumpkin to provide a title and some content for a catalog for Janet Mathey’s show at untitled 2.0 gallery in Grants Pass, Oregon.

I sent Mr. Lumpkin some fragments of poems that I thought would flesh out the work and allowed them to take and use what they considered appropriate. It was a happy collaboration. Some samples of the work.

The body is imperfect.
Every day it finds new ways
to tell us this
so we’ll never forget.
(from Imperfection (as work in progress))

*
There is no mercy so kind
As the shapes of imagined women.
            (from Nocturne/Voyeur)

*
To the eye everything is a cherry.
To the finger everything’s a thorn.
            (from Touché)

.

Enjoy.
